Man Fights To Keep Unemployment Benefits Coming

Hundreds of thousands of people in our area are still without a job, and navigating the red tape of unemployment can leave people even more frustrated.
Tim Craig lost his job in July and began collecting unemployment. Here’s his problem: Last month, he worked for two weeks as a consultant.
The state says if you’re a consultant, you’re not eligible for unemployment.
Craig is waiting to find out his status and relying on charity in the meantime.
“For years we’ve donated to things like Philabundance and PennRidge FISH. And now we have to go to them and ask for food,” Craig said.
We called the state unemployment office on Craig’s behalf. They told us they’d expedite his case and he should be getting some answers on Monday, one way or the other.
