Our two warehouses hold the food that is collected and donated, then repacked for distribution to our network of close to 600 member agencies in the Delaware Valley. These agencies include food cupboards, neighborhood distributions, shelters, emergency kitchens and various social service agencies with special programs such as daycares and senior centers.
When we find ourselves with product that cannot be used by our network of agencies, then we have the ability to share it with other food banks throughout America’s Second Harvest network. Often it is produce that is so highly valued by food banks and is available to Philabundance due to our geographic location.
Our Galloway warehouse handles perishable goods and is strategically located in the Philadelphia Food Distribution Center which allows us to efficiently collect and distribute millions of pounds of fresh food so that little is wasted. Our trucks are within minutes of Interstates 76 and 95. The average stay in our Galloway warehouse for a food donation is two days. Our centralized location provides easy access to our food donors and network agencies. Our Berks warehouse located in North Philadelphia houses non-perishable items (canned goods).
- Philabundance’s fleet of 8 trucks is on the road five days a week distributing produce, breads, dairy products, canned and packaged foods, and prepared meals to member agencies. Each truck driver maintains the same route. This allows the driver to get to know the neighborhood and provide better service to the agencies on that route.
- We also provide access on demand for agencies that may pick-up perishables at the Galloway location, or non-perishables at the Berks Street location on designated days of the week.
Philabundance collects and distributes food from businesses, organizations and individual food donors.

In 2006, we distributed 17 million pounds of food in our service area, and exported 8 million pounds of surplus food to assist other area food banks. |
