Mr. Warren deserves a happy and long retirement after many years of working hard and caring for his family. He is one of the friendliest and most pleasant people I’ve ever met. It was always a pleasure to see him pull up with a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope people will read it to the end and at least stop to question their own and others judgmental attitudes toward food stamps. The country will likely need people who are not on food stamps to support the program from being cut by those who have no empathy.

Hi Colleen- glad the post was helpful- in these kinds of situations Philabundance tends to link folks up with nearby agencies- in a neighbor helping neighbor effort. To keep our logistical operation at maximum efficiency, we tend to aim mostly for unprepared foods in bulk lots. Additionally, we also have an annual program in the summer called “Share the Harvest” where you can drop off excess produce (if your husband has a garden) at a location near you. Really great topic! We don’t talk enough about how much food we waste everyday that could otherwise be used by people who really need it. I’m glad to see that Philabundance is doing everything in its power to see that all the food our farmers work hard to produce is going to good use.

Excellent article,was unaware of the amount if food wasted in PA.My husband cooks massive amounts of food every evening to serve only 3 people. Can you come to Jenkintown to pick up our leftovers?
