New Freedom Theatre’s "Cans, Coats, And Culture" Food Drive
The New Freedom Theatre’s Performing Arts Training Program will launch “Cans, Coats, and Culture, an innovative program designed to help feed, clothe, and culturally stimulate needy families in the Philadelphia area. The entire student body, from preschool through young adults as well as parents and patrons have been enlisted to join in this unique spirit of giving. The aim is to have everyone donate canned goods and new or slightly used coats. This collaborative effort will be done in partnership with Philabundance and The Salvation Army.”

As part of the Family Cultural Outreach Series, Freedom Theatre will present three thought provoking plays:
A $5.00 discount will be given to any patron who brings a can or coat to any of the three plays.

- Journey of a Gun (January 21 - 23, 2009) – A play which deals with tough choices and the consequences of those choices concerning gun violence and peer pressure.
- GET UP AND GET INTO IT (January 30 - February 14) – Learn about Philly’s history in the 60’s and 70’s through music, dance and stories – a back by popular demand smash hit.
- 12 GOING ON 20 (February 27- March 8, 2009) – This series finale explores the life of a young girl as she decides how fast to grow up.
