Chef Joseph Poon arrived in the United States with $8, a limited knowledge of English and a lot of tenacity. After putting himself through college and training at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), the nationally known chef and restaurateur, famous for his Asian Fusion Cuisine, now hosts private events, conducts Wok ‘N Walk Tours of Philadelphia Chinatown and teaches cooking classes. In addition, he leads trips to China, participates in dozens of philanthropic events each year, and recently published the autobiographical cookbook, Life is Short...Cooking is Fun.
PCK was founded in 2000, as an adult culinary arts vocational training program that supplies critically needed meals to agencies and area emergency kitchens serving people with food insecurity.
