Pennsylvania Finds New 'Guardian Angel In Fight for Hunger

Local Sportswear Company Teams with #1 Radio Show in Hunger-Relief Effort

Souderton, PA, September 16, 2008 –Imagine being a single parent desperately trying to put food on the table. Imagine living in a middle class family where the sole provider has suddenly lost their job. Imagine relying on social security, with no money left for food and household necessities. These situations are reality – and they are happening right here in the Delaware Valley.

According to Philabundance, an organization dedicated to the many children and adults who go hungry in the region, more than 900,000 individuals in the Delaware Valley face hunger. With the current state of the economy, more and more families find themselves in a situation without enough money to eat.

Guardian Wear, a local high-performance sports apparel company, was founded on the premise of putting your heart back into the community. The company, dedicated to putting kids and families first, is taking action toward ending hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley with a new campaign.

Teaming up with WMMR’s Preston and Steve Show and its popular ‘Camp out for Hunger’ campaign, Guardian Wear challenges the local community to ‘Wear it Out’ for hunger. Starting September 2nd and continuing through the first week of December, supporters can purchase a $15 Guardian Wear t-shirt from the company’s website www.everyoneplays.com. One-third of the proceeds from every shirt sold will be donated to Philabundance.

The campaign goal is to raise a half-million dollars for the organization. Supporters are encouraged to ‘wear out’ their t-shirt to spread the message – and efforts will be rewarded. Anyone spotted by a WMMR army member, Bod Squad member or other employee will receive an entry to win the grand prize – a trip for two to Jamaica. Additionally, 200 recipients will receive a ‘Lucky Gold’ t-shirt, which automatically enters you into the grand prize drawing.

“We’ve always felt there was a Guardian Angel beside us, guiding us through difficult times,” said Guardian Wear owner/managing partner Mike Mordan. “We are dedicated to putting 110% into this campaign and helping those in need. Our goal is to make sure ‘everyone eats’ and to end hunger in our local community.”

For more information on the campaign, visit www.everyoneplays.com or the Preston and Steve show www.prestonandsteve.com. Listen to the Preston and Steve Show live 6am to 10am, Monday through Friday, on 93.3 WMMR for more announcements on the campaign.
