Penn Relays’ Biggest Stars to Kicked Off Meet with Food Donation

Bershawn Jackson, 2005 World Champion, 2004 Monique Henderson, Olympic gold medalist, Lauryn Williams, 2004 Olympic silver medalist, Martha Buccino. Vice president of strategic development, Philabundance;  Kristal Walton, assistant brand manager, Tyson Foods, Inc. and Wallace Spearmon, 2006 USA Outdoor Champion

Several of track & field’s biggest stars joined Tyson Foods and Philabundance in an event to create awareness of the issue of hunger in Pennsylvania. During the event, Tyson backed an 18-wheeler up to the loading dock, and with the help of athletes that include 2004 Olympic gold medalist Monique Henderson and 2005 World Champion Bershawn Jackson along with other US & Jamaican Team elite runners, will unload nearly 30,000 pounds of protein-rich chicken, beef and pork, which is enough meat to provide 120,000 meals. The donation is part of a 10 million pound, 3-year commitment Tyson has made to America’s Second Harvest, the Nation’s Foodbank Network. The runners and Philabundance officials will be available to discuss the fight against hunger and the importance of a donation like this.
