Getting food and resources into the hands of those who need it most is the core mission of Philabundance. For more than 25 years, we have acquired and distributed millions of pounds of food to our neighbors in need throughout the Delaware Valley. Most recently, the face of hunger has changed. In addition to children and seniors, there is an alarming number of working poor, who in spite of being employed, often in multiple jobs, are unable to make ends meet.
To aid this growing number of food insecure families in our region, Philabundance took the initiative to expand our distribution methods beyond our nearly 500 member agencies to include programs that would allow us to touch the community directly. Each direct service program is customized to strengthen the hunger safety net with dignity and empowerment. This multifaceted approach is serving 65,000 people per week by building strong relationships within the food industry, engaging communities throughout the region, and navigating the ever-changing landscape of food poverty. These combined efforts allow Philabundance to ensure that every man, woman and child have access to healthy, nutritious food.
