Community Food Center

The Community Food Center (CFC) is Philabundance’s choice-model hybrid food pantry. Created in 2009 in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Community Service and Saint Joseph’s University, the CFC is located in the lower level of the Lehigh Branch of the Philadelphia Free Library. A choice-model pantry allows participants to choose from available items rather than receive a pre-packaged bag or box. This method not only promotes a stronger sense of dignity, but is also a more effective way to distribute goods by allowing people to choose items they will actually eat. In addition to the donated food given away for free, the CFC also offers items for sale at low-cost to make a stable supply of staples available and allow customers to maximize their resources, including SNAP benefits. Each week, the CFC distributes approximately 18,000 pounds of food to 1200 households.

In observance of the Memorial Holiday the CFC will be closed Sat. (5/25). Normal operations will resume on Weds. 5/29.
