At the heart of every Philabundance program is the belief that no Delaware Valley man, woman or child should have to go to bed hungry. So we do everything we can to ensure that our member agencies have a reliable source of the nutritious food they need to help the people they serve.

We accomplish this by distributing food through a network of close to 600 member agencies in the Delaware Valley.  These agencies include food cupboards, neighborhood distributions, shelters, emergency kitchens and various social service agencies with special programs such as senior centers.

We believe that simply providing enough food to satisfy someone's hunger is not enough. This belief has led Philabundance to develop specific programs over the years to help address the issues of malnutrition and hunger, especially among the vulnerable populations.

Philabundance launched the Emergency Relief Initiative (ERI) in response to the difficult economic times that are leading to job loss and more people seeking food assistance.  ERI is focused on increasing Food Acquisition, Enhanced Emergency Access and Increased Food Distribution to the people in need in the Delaware Valley.  The Emergency Relief Initiative (ERI) consists of new programs and the expansion of other programs, that will provided the community with an additional 1.5 meals of food this year. People in need of food can now call 800-319-FOOD (3663) to find food assistance. The 800 number is answered by a dedicated bilingual Philabundance staff member Mon-Fri. 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Philabundance will refer callers to a food cupboard near their residence.
