5th Graders Spread The Love in 2nd PB&J Food Drive
A press conference scheduled to celebrate the Spread The Love campaign and welcome 5th graders from Bethany Christian School who collected peanut butter and jelly for Philabundance was cancelled due to inclement weather. Student Kayla Everett shares why her class wanted to collect PB&J, when they first came up with the idea and how giving back makes her feel:
My name is Kayla Everett and I’m in 5th grade at Bethany Christian School. My class was super bummed that we could not come to Philabundance today because of all the crazy ice and rain– but this is what I was planning to say!
Last year I came to our Principal asking if we could do a peanut butter + jelly drive to support Philabundance – an organization that helps people that don’t have food to eat like we do. Over the past 2 years, our school has collected over 1,800 jars of PB+J – do you KNOW how many sandwiches that can make?!
Hunger is a problem I feel no one should struggle with, but it’s something that lots of people face every day. It doesn’t matter how young or small you are – you’re always big enough to make a difference in someone’s life.
Giving back isn’t about what you get in return – it’s about making others happy… but it’s funny because helping others actually makes you feel happy! I hope that I’ve inspired you to support Spread the Love with my school and collects LOTS of PB+J!
Join Kayla and her classmates; Spread The Love to families who need kid-friendly, high-protein items like peanut butter but may not be able to afford them.
