Citizens Financial Group (CFG) today announced that its colleagues have donated more than 4.5 tons of food to nearly 20 local organizations in New England, the Mid-Atlantic and the Midwest. Citizens Bank and Charter One colleagues donated the food during CFG’s 18th annual Colleague Appreciation Week, an annual company-wide celebration of the contributions colleagues make to the bank, its customers and the communities it serves.

“We know from our long-time partners at local emergency food agencies that the summer months can be a difficult time to keep their pantry shelves stocked and their clients fed,” said Ellen Alemany, Chairman and CEO of CFG and RBS Americas. “I’m so proud of our colleagues who used Colleague Appreciation Week this year to help those in need at a time when they need it most. Time and again, our colleagues show their commitment to our customers and our communities, and I thank them for making this food drive such a success for the members of our communities who need help this summer.”

The more than 4.5 tons of non-perishable food was donated to the following organizations:

• Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf
• Cleveland Food Bank
• Connecticut Food Bank
• Food Bank of Northeastern NY
• Food Bank of Western NY
• Foodlink
• Food Bank of the Southern Tier
• Long Island Cares
• Food Bank of Westchester
• Food Bank of Northeastern NY, Hudson Valley Office
• Food Bank of Central NY
• Forgotten Harvest
• Gleaners Community Food Bank
• Greater Boston Food Bank
• Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
• Humanitarian Service Project
• New Hampshire Food Bank
• Philabundance
• Rhode Island Community Food Bank

“We are grateful to our friends at Citizens Bank who used their Colleague Appreciation Week as a way to help us make sure our neighbors have access to nutritious food,” said Andrew Schiff, Chief Executive Officer, Rhode Island Community Food Bank. “The demand for nutritious emergency food is really growing this summer as individuals and families struggle with unemployment, underemployment and the rising cost of food, rent and health care.”
