Delaware Boat Tour & More

South Philly Review

Several groups of friends and families made their way aboard The Northwind for a tour of the Delaware waterfront Saturday morning. The Washington Avenue Green event raised awareness on the ecology and history of the Delaware River and the 1301-S.-Columbus-Boulevard riverfront park (Photos 1 to 3). The Phillie Phanatic joined the Phillies Ballgirls and former Phillies outfielder Greg Luzinski Sunday at Citizens Bank Park for Philabundance and ShopRite’s food drive. Fans who attended — the first event of Phans Feeding Families — donated 9,325 pounds of non-perishable items, which will provide nearly 10,000 meals for needy families (Photo 4). Children and adults alike gathered at the Weccacoe Playground Fundraising Day, which helped to raise awareness for the park, located at Fourth and Catharine streets, and revealed plans for revitalizing the park going into the future (Photo 5).
