Ovens around the region are in preheat mode: Cupcake Smash is back! The fundraiser for Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger-relief organization, will be held 1-5 p.m. April 28 at The Piazza at Schmidts (1050 N. Hancock St., www.atthepiazza.com). Tony Luke Jr. of Tony Luke’s will emcee and serve as a celebrity judge, along with Drew Lazor of Philadelphia City Paper; Wendy Rollins, of Radio 104.5; Tommy Up, of PYT, and Michael Klein, of Philly.com/Food. Judges will select best amateur and professional cupcakes (there’s a wait list to enter; email CakesforCauses@gmail.com), while attendees vote for the “People’s Choice.” The winning cupcakes will be featured on PYT’s menu (1050 N. Hancock St., 215-964-9009) through May. Advance tickets $20, $25 at the door. Details, here.
