Wholesaler Four Seasons Produce Inc. has raised $52,050 for several food banks.

Ephrata, Pa.-based Four Seasons raised the money by donating 15 cents for every case of produce sold between June 25 and July 3, the company’s busiest week of the year, said Ben Riggs, vice president of business development.

Four Seasons sold 244,803 cases of produce that week.

“We’re happy to be a part of this program, and will probably continue to support it in the future,” Riggs said.

The donation will benefit several regional Feeding America-affiliated food banks, including the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, the Capital Area Food Bank, the Greater Berks Food Bank and Philabundance.

Four Seasons partnered on the donation with two of its subsidiaries, Earth Source Trading and Sunrise Logistics, and 19 of its suppliers. Participating grower-shippers included Santa Paula, Calif.-based Calavo Growers; Monte Vista, Colo.-based Farm Fresh Direct LLC; and San Juan Batista, Calif.-based Earthbound Farm.

In 2010, the first year Four Seasons did the Feeding America fundraiser, the company raised about $33,000, Riggs said. That year, 10 cents for every case was donated, and the company had 13 supplier partners.
