Get Into The Giving Spirit On #GivingTuesday!

Posted by on November 26th, 2013

Get into the giving spirit by joining Philabundance in the fight against hunger for #GivingTuesday on December 3. This national movement encourages people to  give back to their communities as part of the holiday season—and at Philabundance, we have made fighting hunger in the Delaware Valley easier than ever. Take part in #GivingTuesday and help Philabundance raise 20,000  meals for  neighbors like the Klopp family and Thomason family, who recently shared their stories with 6ABC.

Philabundance needs your support more than ever before because of the increased needs of families struggling with hunger. Over the last month, steep cuts in the SNAP (food stamp) program have made it harder for families already struggling to put food on the table. Slashes in benefits were made, equaling a loss of 21 meals per month for a family of four.  Many of our neighbors are unsure of how they will provide food during what should be a season of abundance. That is why Philabundance has committed to collecting 20,000 meals on #GivingTuesday. Thanks to our #GivingTuesday community partners, holiday giving has never been so easy!

On December 3, take a break from the kitchen and dine at your local Chickie’s and Pete’s. They will be donating 15% of each food purchase to Philabundance and another local area food bank. All you have to do is print our special coupon, and order those signature crab fries!

Sb1 Federal Credit Union is encouraging supporters to get social with #GivingTuesday. For every new “like” their Facebook page receives from November 25 through December 3, they will donate $1 to Philabundance. For every dollar donated, Philabundance can provide 2 meals to those in need! “Like” and share their page with your friends to help put food on the table for families in your own neighborhood.

Making an online donation on #GivingTuesday is also a quick, easy way to make your impact this holiday season. In just a few minutes, you can provide hope and comfort this holiday season.

Share your commitment to Philabundance and the fight against hunger. Share your photos on our Facebook and Twitter pages so we know how you are giving back this #GivingTuesday.
