Help Performance Fitness Feed the Hungry

WYNNEWOOD – “Get Your Can to Class!” Bring a can of food to help Performance Fitness support hunger-relief organization Philabundance, and get an awesome workout for free at the Main Line’s leading fitness boot camp, now through Dec. 23.

The 3rd Annual “Get Your Can to Class” food drive is in full swing. Existing clients have been busy collecting cans for the past two weeks. New clients may join the fun anytime and attend up to three free classes as long as they bring a can of food each time. Workouts are scalable, perfect for everyone regardless of age or fitness level.

Adding an element of friendly competition to this year’s drive, clients have been divided into two groups: the Beets and the Squash. It’s the halfway mark and the Squash are crushing the Beets.

Performance Fitness owner Michelle Collier said, “Our original goal was to raise 350 pounds of food for Philabundance but I had to adjust that number after we collected almost 300 pounds in the first two weeks. However, if the Beets intend to stay in the running I may have to adjust that number again.”

Philabundance development director Marianne Lynch said the agency has seen an increase of 26 percent of those in need since last year. “For us to be able to spread awareness in the Main Line is huge,” Lynch said. “We really appreciate it when we can acquire food from a cause like this.”

On Thursday, Dec. 29, Collier and a group of volunteers among her clientele will deliver the proceeds to Philabundance and pitch in with that day’s distribution efforts at the food bank.
