Hunger Action Month 2014

September is Hunger Action Month, which is a national initiative to raise awareness and call community members to participate in the fight against hunger. In the Delaware Valley alone, there are 900,000 people at risk for hunger. Philabundance is preparing to stock the shelves as the winter months approach and utility bills increase, leaving neighbors in need with little money to feed their families. We need the community’s help to prepare for the increase of need Philabundance will be experiencing in the upcoming months. You can make an impact by joining us in fighting hunger in any way you can- every action makes a difference!

Ways to Get Involved in Hunger Action Month:

Make a Financial Contribution: A $30 donation will provide 60 meals for people in need in our community. Make a donation.

30 Ways in 30 Days: We put together a 30-day calendar of activities you can do to make a difference, in person or online. Whether you’re advocating and raising awareness, making donations or volunteer, there is a way for everyone to contribute. Download the calendar!

Paper Plate Advocacy Project: Throughout September, Philabundance is asking neighbors across the Delaware Valley to write a message about hunger on an empty paper plate and send it in to Philabundance. The plates will then be sent to Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett in Harrisburg. Participants can also post a photo of themselves with their plate to Philabundance’s Facebook page. Photos will be printed and sent to Harrisburg. Mail to:
