Local Groups Join Philabundance for MLK Day of Service

mlk20Local groups gathered at Philabundance this year to celebrate Martin Luther King Day of Service. Throughout several shifts, thousands of volunteers helped sort and box food for low-income senior citizens. In total, 60,000 pounds of food were packed that week. Great job, volunteers!

The AmeriCorps VISTA members at Philabundance also provided orientations about MLK Day, and facilitated group reflections with the volunteers. They spoke about the value of serving and the meaning of this special day of service.

Volunteer groups included: HOBY PA East, National Park Service, Shipley School, Samuel Sels High School Male Mentoring League, GPX Enterprises, Vanguard, Holy Redeemer Associates, and Sage Financial. Thank you to everyone who lent a helping hand!
