In a short ceremony outside his latest forthcoming venture, The Juice Merchant, located on Main Street, Bazemore and staff presented a $2,500 check to Philabundance April 30.
According to Philabundance Event Manager Liz Edelen, that day was the final one for fund matching. The money presented will be matched by other donors and will help those in need in the Delaware Valley.
“It will help to provide 10,000 meals to those in need,” said Edelen.
Bazemore owns a number of properties along Manayunk’s Main Street including the eponymous Bazemore Gallery.
According to Bazemore, The Juice Merchant will provide fresh food options with fresh juice drinks and smoothies. Other options include salads, sandwiches and wraps. Patrons will receive 15 minute access at stations and there will be a wall featuring local artists on a rotating basis.
During the check presentation, Bazemore announced that a portion of every juice and smoothie sold at the Juice Merchant will be donated to Philabundance on a monthly basis.
“It’s the responsible thing to do,” said Bazemore. “Most people in business wouldn’t think to do this.”
Created in 1984, Philabundance is the region’s largest hunger relief organization. For more information, log on to www.philabundance.org.
