Merion Elementary Collects Over Three Tons of Food for Philabundance
Merion Elementary School’s fifth grade class has collected an astounding 6,919 pounds of food for the non-profit food bank Philabundance, according to a news release issued by the Lower Merion School District.
“Through the support of the entire school community, Merion has been able to increase the overall tonnage of food collected for Philabundance each year since the inception of the drive,” the report states. “This year, Merion was among the largest single school donors in the region collecting an incredible 6,919 lbs. of food, which was 541 lbs. more than was collected last year.”
Merion Elementary began the school-wide community service food collection initiative benefiting Philabundance six years ago, according to the district’s news release.
