WORCESTER — The Methacton School District invites community members to hear Methacton Orchestra students perform at the annual String Jamboree on Wednesday, April 3.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., more than 450 students from grades 4 through 12 will perform under the leadership of the high school seniors in the auditorium at Arcola Intermediate School. This year the theme of the free concert is “Adventurers, Detectives, and Spies.”

During the jamboree, the Methacton Orchestra will sponsor a food drive for Philabundance. Collection boxes will be placed in the Arcola and Skyview Upper Elementary School lobbies.

The jamboree is an informal concert that features songs arranged for each of the instruments of the bowed string family.

Some of the songs featured in this year’s concert are Kung Fu Fighting, and the theme songs from Mission: Impossible, Gilligan’s Island, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. The finale features a medley of James Bond and Austin Powers movie themes.

There is no charge to attend.
