Lititz, Pa. – Nov. 4, 2013 – Susquehanna Bank, which has donated more than 830,000 meals to area food banks since 2010, is poised to surpass the million-meal mark this year and is hoping the public can help them get there.

Susquehanna has pledged to donate five meals each time someone ‘likes’ its Facebook page between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, or when a Facebook fan ‘likes, comments on or shares,’ its Stellar Deed of the Day. Stellar Deeds will be posted regularly over the next two months on

In addition, Susquehanna will donate 25 meals for each new personal checking account opened at the bank from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31.

“With the public’s help, we’ve had great success in the last three years leading food drives aimed at helping those who need it most during the holiday season,” Susquehanna Bank President Andrew S. Samuel said. “This year, we are on a Million Meal Mission – an extraordinary goal that we’re confident we’ll not only meet, but surpass, due to the goodwill of our customers and fans.”

Susquehanna is happy to be partnering with the following food banks: Philabundance, the Central PA Food Bank, the Greater Berks Food Bank, the Maryland Food Bank, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey – Southern Branch, the Food Bank of South Jersey, the Mountaineer Food Bank in West Virginia and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeastern Pennsylvania, and the H&J Weinberg Northeastern Regional Food Bank.

Stellar Deeds can be as simple as: ‘Hold the door for the person behind you. Thank a veteran. Offer to walk someone’s dog.’ Stellar Deeds are inspired by Susquehanna’s new checking account, Stellar Checking with Smart Rewards, which pays customers cash for everyday banking activity, such as swiping debit cards or paying bills online.
