Pearl S. Buck International Honors Philabundance Founder Pamela Rainey Lawler
Philabundance founder Pamela Rainey Lawler was honored as Pearl S. Buck International’s 2015 Woman of the Year during an event at the Pearl S. Buck House in Hilltown on Thursday.
The award honors women who, like Nobel and Pulitzer prize-winning author and humanitarian Pearl S. Buck, have distinguished themselves in their career, devotion to family and pursuit of humanitarian goals, the organization said.
Founded in 1984, Philabundance has grown to become the region’s largest hunger relief agency serving more than 65,000 individuals every week.
Lawler joins 31 Woman of the Year honorees including Audrey Hepburn, Laura Bush and Toni Morrison.
