Philabundance Asks Locals to Pledge Their Pounds For Hunger

For those looking to shed some weight at the start of the New Year, some incentive from a local charity might offer the needed motivational boost.

Philabundance has partnered with NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” to host its third annual Pound for Pound Challenge, a nationwide promotion offering people an opportunity to pledge their weight loss goals to help feed those in need.

For every pound pledged, the Pound for Pound Challenge collaborative will donate 11 cents to Feeding America, an umbrella organization encompassing Philabundance and other sister food banks.

Philabundance Public Relations Coordinator Lindsay Bues said it was timely that the launch of the program is in conjunction with the start of many people’s New Year’s resolutions.

“This program is actually being done nationally, so everyone is invited to join,” she said.

“It’s a good way to stay motivated and go along with the contestants on the show. People can go online to the website and join a team, create a team or pledge for themselves, individually. Pound for Pound takes it from there.”
