Philabundance asks neighbors to collect coins in lieu of candy
Rising food and gas prices are straining many families in communities across the Delaware Valley. Philabundance, the region’s largest hunger relief organization, has seen a 46 percent increase in people calling Philabundance’s Food Help Line for help compared to this time last year.
According to the Census Bureau there are more than 220,000 children in the Delaware Valley who live in poverty.
Philabundance is asking families across the Delaware Valley to Scare Hunger out of our communities this Halloween and collect coins instead of candy to help families in need. For every 50 cents donated, Philabundance can provide one meal to a neighbor in need in the Delaware Valley. Electronic toolkits can be found on Philabundance’s website,www.philabundance.org/scarehunger.
