Philabundance Launches First Children’s Program

Just in time for the new school year, Philabundance has launched its first hunger relief program geared exclusively for children. Philabundance will be providing each family in the James R. Lowell Elementary School community with 22 pounds of food a month throughout the school year, as a part of the Target Corporation’s Meal for Minds initiative.

The kick-off took place on September 28th at the unveiling of a brand-new library for the Olney-based elementary school, a reciepient of the 2012 Target School Libary Makeover program.

The new library at James R. Lowell Elementary features 2,000 new books, furniture, carpet and shelves, and a complete technology upgrade, including new iPads. Both Target and Philabundance volunteers were on hand to distribute seven new books for each student to take home following the unveiling celebration.
