Save-A-Lot, one of the nation’s leading hard-discount, limited-assortment grocery chains, hit the road this month to help educate people about how they can eat healthy and affordably as the summer road trip season winds down and the new school year gets underway. The Fuel Your Family Road Trip features two brand ambassadors—Road Scholars—made stops in 18 cities and personal connections with tens of thousands of consumers on a 2,000-mile journey between July 27 and Aug. 25. The Road Scholars made their 16th stop in Philadelphia on Wednesday, Aug. 22.
The Road Scholars, ambassadors of the Save-A-Lot Fuel Your Family Road Trip, delivered a $5,000 donation from Save-A-Lot to Philabundance, the region’s largest hunger relief organization, during a customer appreciation and sampling event at the “M” Street Save-A-Lot food store. The donation will provide 10,000 meals for area families. In all, Save-A-Lot donated $33,500 to local Feeding America food banks along the Fuel Your Family Road Trip route, which equates to more than 250,000 meals for families in need.
