Philabundance to Spread the Love to Hungry Children This Valentine’s Day

News Source: Press Release

Philadelphia, PA- February 1, 2016- Philabundance will Spread the Love to children and families facing hunger this Valentine’s Day by raising $15,000 to buy peanut butter. Peanut butter is in high demand because it’s a great source of protein, it’s kid-friendly and highly nutritious – yet it’s too expensive for many who face the tough decision in the winter months whether to “heat or eat”.

The community’s impact will be doubled thanks to lead sponsor Glanzmann Subaru, which will match donations dollar for dollar up to $5,000. Donations can be made online at https://www.philabundance.org/spread-the-love-2016.

PHOTO OPP: On Tuesday, February 16 at 10:30 am, Philabundance will host a press event featuring 5th graders from Bethany Christian School of Chester County who will drop off jars of peanut butter and jelly collected as part of a school-wide service project. This is the second year the Bethany School has helped Philabundance Spread the Love.

As part of the press event, Kayla Everett, 5th grader from Bethany Christian School, will talk about why the school undertook this project.

“It’s important to Spread the Love to neighbors facing hunger not just around the holidays, but 365 days a year,” said Glenn Bergman, Executive Director of Philabundance. “This campaign will raise awareness that one third of those we serve are children and help raise donations to purchase nutritious food that they need to learn and grow.”

In addition to the press event with the Bethany School, on Tuesday, the 16th at 5:30 PM, on the heels of Valentine’s Day, Philabundance will host, Mackin’ & Packin’, a singles volunteer shift. This special event will connect singles in their 20s and 30s with others who want to help fight hunger. Those interested in volunteering can email volunteer@philabundance.org for more information.

Additionally, our nonprofit grocery store, Fare & Square, will offer its customers special deals on peanut butter and jelly throughout the month of February to Spread the Love to neighbors, and their children, in Chester.
