Share the Harvest Official Kickoff

WHEN: Saturday, July 17, 2010, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

WHERE: Springdale Farms
1638 S. Springdale Rd.
Cherry Hill, NJ 08003

WHAT: Philabundance is kicking off its summer-long Share the Harvest program on July 17, with a celebration at Springdale Farms in Cherry Hill, one of 11 locations in the Delaware Valley where people can drop off and share extra produce from their gardens to help fight hunger in their community.

Face painting, free hayrides and more will make up the morning of fun as Share the Harvest gets underway. The program encourages home gardeners to grow extra vegetables and to donate them to Philabundance and the fight against hunger. From July 17 through Sept. 25, Philabundance will accept any produce donations on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at locations throughout the Delaware Valley. Last year, gardeners donated 10,850 pounds of produce, 2,850 pounds more than in 2008.
