Shire’s The Great Food Fight! 2012
The 21 schools participating in the 2012 Shire’s Great Food Fight collected a grand total of 71 tons of food for those in need! That’s incredible.
Big Congrats to Owen J. Roberts High School of Chester County for collecting the most food in the competition and to Holy Ghost Preparatory School of Bucks County for collecting the most food per student. Way to fight hunger!
Competition Dates February 15- March 2, 2012!
One of the most successful efforts to raise food and awareness of hunger in the region last year came from big-hearted high school students. In its inaugural year, Shire’s The Great Food Fight! brought together high schools throughout the region with an ambitious goal: collect 25 tons of food for Philabundance. In the end, 18 high schools raised an astounding 64 tons of food!
For high schools, Shire’s The Great Food Fight!:
- Rallies students around community service
- Develops student leaders
- Generates positive energy
- Creates exposure in the community and the media
- Showcases the creativity, talent and drive of teenagers
- Provides an opportunity to win up to $10,000 for your school…
…all while helping the region with a serious crisis.
This year’s Great Food Fight campaign will run February 15- March 2, 2012. And we’re planning it to be bigger and better, with more schools, more prizes and most important, more hope for the families that deal with hunger every day.
