Sonja Is Thankful for Your Generosity

You help fill the tables of people facing all kinds of difficult circumstances. A temporary hardship, like a major car repair or brief stint of unemployment, only limits a family’s budget for a short while. Others can cause financial challenges for years. Just ask Sonja.

Sonja and her husband often struggle financially, in part because their three little ones — Cassidy, James and Brandon* — all have special needs that require unique care and equipment. Both parents have full-time jobs with a cable provider, but their insurance doesn’t always cover the cost of their children’s medical treatments.

For example, James, 5, must wear costly, medically-necessary shoes — one pair runs around $1,000. Each year the family’s insurance will only pay for one pair, but kids his age can outgrow a shoe size in just a couple months. Sonja also struggles to afford daycare for Cassidy, who isn’t old enough for school yet and needs specialized care.

Sonja and her husband are having a hard time making ends meet with so many expenses to pay out of pocket. On top of that, Sonja’s constantly taking her kids to doctor’s appointments and must often take unpaid time off work.

A caring mother, she’d do anything for her children and constantly advocates for their health and well-being. When she realized she wouldn’t be able to afford nutritious groceries for her family, Sonja immediately sought help at Seeds of Hope food pantry at Chelten Baptist Church, a local Philabundance agency in Dresher, PA.

She says Cassidy, James and Brandon love the food their mom brings home. It’s important that they have good nutrition, and Sonja is so glad she can provide them with balanced meals. She knows your generosity helps fill her pantry’s shelves and was excited to share her gratitude.

“We are all very grateful,” Sonja says on behalf of her family and neighbors. “We all work really hard to get where we are at, and everyone needs help up sometimes.”

Thank you for ensuring families can access quality food during the holidays and all year. You help change lives for the better!
