Tri-State Toyota Dealers to Host 4th Annual Toyota Tundra Food Drive

(Philadelphia, PA. 12/1/2010) – The Tri-State Toyota Dealers will be hosting their 4th annual Toyota Tundra Food Drive in support of Philabundance, the region’s largest hunger relief organization. To mark the closing of the yearly event, a convoy of Toyota Tundra pick-up trucks filled with non perishable food items will arrive at Philabundance (3616 Galloway St. Philadelphia) on Wednesday, December 15th at 10:00am.

25 local PA, DE and Southern New Jersey Toyota Dealers in partnership with the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Union and Philadelphia Phillies have teamed up to collect non perishable food items to support families in the community. “Especially during this time of year, The Toyota Dealership Association and Philabundance are again leading the way to bring together some first class organizations in support of a very worthy cause” said Nick Sakiewicz, Chief Executive Officer and Operating Partner of the Philadelphia Union. “There is no doubt that the 2010 Toyota Tundra Food Drive will be a great success and all of us at the Union are honored to participate”. The goal for 2010 is to collect 15,000 pounds of food.

The Tri-State Toyota Dealers will be receiving help from some well known sports figures and media personalities. The Philly Phanatic, Hip-Hop, Flyers Alumnus Bob “The Hound” Kelly, Phillies play by play announcers Tom McCarthy and Scott Franzke, Philabundance President Bill Clarke, and Tri-State Toyota Dealers Association President Paul Muller will be there to greet the convoy and unload the trucks.

This is the 4th consecutive year that the Tri-State Toyota Dealers and its partners will collect food for Philabundance;  In that time span over 27,000 pounds of food has been collected and donated to reduce hunger and food insecurity in the Delaware Valley. “Partnering with our friends at the Philadelphia Flyers, 76ers, Union and Phillies is an exciting way to collect food for a very important cause. The Toyota dealers are committed to supporting organizations such as Philabundance in the Delaware Valley. In the past 3 years we have collected 27,000 pounds of food and we look forward to increasing that number this year.” said Toyota Dealership Association President Paul Muller.

“The Tri-State Toyota Dealers Association is an invaluable partner of Philabundance,” said Bill Clark, President and Executive Director of Philabundance. “Philabundance and our agencies have seen a 66 percent increase in need over the past two years. Because of partners like Toyota, who are truly dedicated to fighting hunger, Philabundance is able to provide meals to the increasing number of neighbors in need in the Delaware Valley.”

The Tri-State Toyota Dealers Associations is comprised of 25 Greater Philadelphia area dealers in PA, DE and Southern New Jersey. Philabundance located at the corner of Galloway St and Pattison Ave in South Philadelphia.
