Food pantries got a $4,000 boost this holiday season from the Warminster Rotary.

The charitable organization presented four local food pantries with $1,000 gift cards to Giant.

YWCA Food Bank at Bucks Landing, the Warminster Presbyterian Church Food Bank, Coordinating Council for Health and Welfare and the Ben Wilson Senior Center, which does Meals on Wheels, were the happy recipients.

The Rotary also partnered with Archbishop Wood High School to raise $500 and 700 pounds of food for Philabundance, through collection boxes, football games and other events.

“We typically give $5,000 to a family in need each year. This year, we wanted to touch more lives through food pantries,” said Rotary President Greg Hucklebridge.

The Rotary also raised about $500 for victims of Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey and New York. It typically contributes between $500 and $1,000 per month to people in need.

“We want to raise public awareness of the Rotary,” said Hucklebridge. “We don’t have overhead. All our funds are generated by members doing fundraising through the community. Everything we do goes right back to the community, because we’re not paying for ads or for people’s salaries.”
