I am affiliated as an officer and secretary of Community Service Corps for Archbishop Wood High School. Through my first-hand experience with the Great Food Fight, I had the opportunity to go to the Philabundance warehouse and see what it is like.
Members of our Delaware Valley Area are very generous and giving. Philabundance does extraordinary work for the community, and I am proud to be a part of it. As a student, my school has helped efforts through various incentives. One teacher gave students homework passes if they donated a certain number of nonperishable foods.
Once a month, Archbishop Wood holds a Charity Wednesday, where students can donate money to Philabundance during homeroom. In October, I was put in charge of a bake sale, and all proceeds went directly to Philabundance. Our school collects nonperishables for Philabundance during some football games and other events. Students from my school even reached out to their elementary schools so that they could get involved as well. The work done is phenomenal and no efforts ever go to waste when helping others. Last year, I attended a pep rally hosted by the Great Food Fight and had a terrific time.
I wear my Philabundance shirt with pride, knowing how fortunate I am to have food on the table every night.
