Philabundance, the region’s largest hunger relief organization, has started its drive for surplus vegetables from local residential and community vegetable gardeners. It will accept donations on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until noon at Rose Tree Park on Providence Road (Route 252) in Media.

Donations of surplus production from our gardens or fresh produce purchased from the store or farm stands can be dropped off Saturdays until Sept. 24.

Philabundance has the vehicles to keep the food fresh and protected and to deliver it safely to our hungry neighbors. Last year they collected 7,600 pounds of fresh produce and are aiming for 10,000 pounds this year. More info at
