National Volunteer Month

April is National Volunteer Month, an occasion to recognize and promote volunteerism. Next week (April 18-24) is National Volunteer Week, and we’ll celebrate the impact of volunteer service and spotlight some of our most dedicated volunteers over the last year.

The work of Philabundance would not be possible without volunteers. Last year, our volunteers gave us almost 29,000 hours of their time, saving us more than $600,000 in labor costs, money we re-invested in our hunger relief efforts. Volunteers support us in many ways: sorting and packing food in our warehouses, preparing meals in the Philabundance Community Kitchen, and distributing food with our agency partners on the front line. Their work is truly invaluable in the fight against hunger.

Volunteers are invited to participate in a variety of activities (some virtual!) during Volunteer Week that we hope show our appreciation for their service. You can follow along on social media to learn more about some of our all-star volunteers and how you can become one.
