
Loree D. Jones Brown
Chief Executive Officer
Loree D. Jones Brown has served in top leadership positions in the nonprofit, higher education and government sectors, including Managing Director, or chief operating officer, of the City of Philadelphia, chief of staff for Rutgers University—Camden and chief of external affairs for the School District of Philadelphia. She is currently Chief Executive Officer of Philabundance, a hunger relief agency serving nine (9) counties in southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. A graduate of Princeton University and Spelman College, she has been recognized for her dedication to public service. She represents Philabundance on the boards of Feeding Pennsylvania and Hunger Free Pennsylvania and also serves on the boards of the Philadelphia Health Partnership (chair), Health Partners Plans (vice chair), the Independence Foundation, and the Eisenhower Fellowships (executive committee). She was recently appointed board chair of the Office of Community Empowerment & Opportunity Oversight Board for the City of Philadelphia. She is a former board member of a wide range of civic organizations, including Project HOME, Committee of Seventy, the Police Athletic League (PAL) the World Affairs Council, Operation Understanding, the Philadelphia Planning Commission, and the African American Museum of Philadelphia.

Charles Wright
Chief Development Officer
As Chief Development Officer, Charles provides strategic leadership, management, and coordination for the Philabundance’s individual and institutional fundraising efforts. Prior to joining Philabundance, Charles was the Associate Vice President for College Advancement and Chief Development Officer at The College of New Jersey. In this role, he was responsible for developing and executing the College’s major gifts, annual giving and planned giving programs as well as alumni engagement programming. Prior to joining The College of New Jersey, Wright was Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Peirce College. He spent most of his 25 years of development experience at Villanova University and Widener University where he led campaign operations, major and planned giving, annual giving, advancement services, research, prospect management and donor relations. Chuck is also a Past Chair of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District II Board. In February 2020, the District II Board created the Charles A. Wright Opportunity and Inclusion Leadership Award as part of its District II Achievement Awards Program. He graduated with a BA degree from Villanova University.

James Mullen
Chief Logistics Officer
As the Chief of Logistics, Jim oversees all Philabundance logistic operations in support of Feeding America and a network of 350+ member agencies. He also oversees Facility Management for five Philabundance buildings strategically placed across the city of Philadelphia to serve food bank agencies & partners in PA & NJ.
Prior to Philabundance, Jim served in the US Air Force for 28 years, first as a Medical Technician (Nurses’ Aid) and then as a Healthcare Administrator. Jim was responsible for resource management, information technology, education & training, and homeland defense, and he was specialty matched to Logistics/Supply Chain Management and Project Management. Jim deployed to Africa, the Balkans, and the Middle East.
Jim attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Seton Hall University, and a Master of Health Administration Degree in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University, and he is a Certified Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute.

Kate Scully
Chief External Affairs Officer
Kate Scully, JD is the Chief External Affairs Officers at Philabundance. In this role, Kate oversees the Communications and Marketing, Events and Volunteers, and Policy and Advocacy work for Philabundance. Kate works to ensure the mission and message of the work of Philabundance is known throughout our area and beyond.
Prior to her work with Philabundance, Kate was the Policy and Communications Director at Drexel University’s Center for Hunger-Free Communities. In this role, Kate worked to translate the Center’s research and practices into policy-relevant communications at the local, state, and national levels.
Kate earned her JD from Widener University School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Michele Gilbert
Chief People Officer
Michele Gilbert is an accomplished Human Resources professional with over 20 years of experience specializing in non-profit and private organizations. Michele’s diverse experience includes employee and labor relations; performance management and development; strategic workforce planning; data analysis; employee engagement; compliance; benefits; compensation and payroll; talent acquisition, orientation and retention. She works closely with leadership and management to understand and transition strategic goals to operational results. She builds and maintains an environment of trust and confidentiality which allows her to successfully address and counsel employees. She ensures members of the community are valued and respected at all times.
Michele currently serves as the Chief People Officer for Philabundance where she is responsible for implementing new human resources strategies. Prior to Philabundance, Michele developed, participated and implement various Human Resources initiatives including compliance audits; handbook development; job and staffing analysis; Title IX Coordinator; training development, implementation and return on investment. She has supported small and mid-sized organizations by advising them through all their stages of creation, growth and stabilization.
Michele earned her Bachelor of Arts from Temple University. She is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-CP) and a Title IX Coordinator; and a member of the Society for Human Resources Management.

Darrell Giles
Interim Chief Financial Officer
Darrell K. B. Giles has over 30 years of public accounting experience as an auditor and tax professional, including more than five years with a former Big Five CPA firm. Darrell served a diversified client base that included commercial entities, Fortune 1000 companies, and not-for-profit, educational, government, and cultural organizations. Darrell performed audits, due diligence, and agreed-upon procedures, and has provided business advice to private and public sector clients. Darrell’s professional experience also included regulatory filings, business operation reviews, and internal audit support. He also has significant educational and governmental experience including audits requiring OMB A-133 (Single Audit) and Uniform Guidance requirements.
Darrell was a senior partner at the firm of Mitchell Titus, LLP working in the Government, Not-for-Profit, and Employee Benefit Plan practices and was the chairman of the firm’s National Training Committee. He retired from Mitchell Titus after 29 years in 2018.
Darrell graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Accounting. He is a CPA in various states. His professional affiliations include the AICPA, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. He is on the Advisory Board of the United Auto Workers Medical Benefit Trust. He is a former board member and former Chairman of the Finance Committee for United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. Darrell is also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. – Mu Omega Chapter.
