Campout: Meet Preston & Steve and Lend Your Voice to Hunger!

Philabundance is looking forward to a star-studded, fun-filled, donation-heavy 93.3 WMMR’s Preston and Steve’s Camp Out for Hunger, the largest single-location food drive in the country. And you can make it even better!

To make the event a hit, Preston & Steve seek a current or former food recipient to join them on air to tell their listeners first-hand about Philabundance’s impact – either in their studio in Bala Cynwyd before Camp Out or on site at Camp Out at Xfinity Live!, inside the Wells Fargo Center Complex from Dec. 2 to 6.

Having a person you can relate to talk about their struggles with hunger on air lets our listener hear firsthand from one of their neighbors about the issues that one could face – that anyone could face,” said Preston.

Steve encourages people to share their experience, “Hearing from someone who needed food assistance makes Camp Out attendees understand who they’re helping, feel more generous and contribute more food or money ; so sharing your personal story will be critical to Camp Out’s success.”

Preston & Steve and their morning crew always treat guests with respect, dignity and care; Philabundance will also help the spokesperson prepare to speak on the radio and accompany them to their interview.

Are you:

  • A current or former food recipient of Philabundance or a partner?
  • Someone who accessed long- or short-term or temporarily (i.e. those impacted by the government shutdown)?
  • Available for a half hour, the week prior to Camp Out in studio in Bala Cynwyd OR on air, between December 2-4 at Camp Out?

Why participate?

  • Show WMMR listeners that hunger can impact anyone – including their friends, family, colleagues and neighbors
  • Inspire listeners and Camp Out attendees alike to provide hunger relief for their neighbors in need

Camp Out 2018 brought Philabundance approximately 1.826 million pounds of food and almost $200,000! Philabundance would be incredibly grateful for your time to support an event that goes a long way toward helping us drive hunger from our communities today, and end hunger for good.

If you are interested in becoming a spokesperson, please reach out to our Director of Communications, Stef Arck-Baynes at sarck-baynes@philabundance.org.
