Anti-hunger advocates often talk about fighting hunger in their own backyards and Desireè La Marr-Murphy, a partner of Philabundance, took that call to action literally. After seeing rising hunger rates in her community due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she began operating a food pantry, Murphy’s Giving Market, in the backyard of her Upper Darby home.
Philabundance is proud to be able to partner with Desireè and provide her with both food for her distributions as well as resources to help move Murphy’s Giving Market from her yard to a building nearby.
Good Morning America recognized her great work and honored Desireè as part of GMA Gives Back on the morning of December 17, 2021. They surprised her on-air with some messages from her supporters, including Philabundance, and a generous donation from Honey Bunches of Oats.
