Hunger Action Month 2023

September is Hunger Action Month, Feeding America’s annual nationwide campaign designed to inspire people to take action and end hunger for good in the U.S.

This year’s campaign is a part of The Full Effect PSA campaign platform which launched back in June. The Full Effect highlights the impact of food on people’s lives and shows how a meal goes beyond solely nourishing our bodies.

“This Hunger Action Month, joining the movement to end hunger helps to ensure that everyone, regardless of race, background, or ZIP code, has access to nutritious food and vital resources they need to thrive in school, at work, in personal relationships, and essentially, every aspect of their lives. Because when people are fed, futures are nourished, and individuals go from just living to truly thriving,” said Philabundance CEO Loree Jones Brown.

Throughout the month, we’ll take a closer look at how food insecurity is affecting the millions of people we serve in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. We often discuss the effects on children and senior citizens, but there is a much wider scope of individuals experiencing an increased need for healthy food donations that some might not consider, such as military veterans, the LGBTQIA+ population, and college students. We want to make sure our communities are aware that we offer all of our vital services to each and every individual in need of assistance.

In addition, September 15th is Hunger Action Day, a day where collective efforts across the country are focused for greater impact. It’s a day to “Go Orange,” because orange is the color of hunger relief. This Hunger Action Day, we’ll encourage everyone to unite by wearing orange and speaking out on behalf of our neighbors facing hunger.

This is a time to come together to help provide healthy meals to our communities. Every action, big or small, is one step closer to an America where no one is hungry. You can choose to donate or advocate. You can choose to volunteer or raise awareness. You have a choice. We hope you choose to help Philabundance to end hunger. Take action at philabundance.org. Thank you for your support and commitment to our mission!
