Philabundance & the State Working Together

We at Philabundance were honored and thrilled to have three members of the Governor’s Administration visit us and see our work first hand.

At our Galloway warehouse the Pennsylvania Secretary of Human Services, Teresa Miller, and the Secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Russell Redding, spent the morning volunteering at our Agency Hub. The Agency Hub is an opportunity for our agency partners, the food pantries, cupboard, and emergency kitchens who receive our food, to pick up free product. Volunteers are need to move boxes of food, largely produce, from our warehouse to the loading dock so the agencies can then put it into their vehicles. The Hub serves about 50 cars every Tuesday and Thursday providing approximately 34,500 pounds into the community.

Secretary Miller and Secretary Redding both were hard at work moving boxes and helping support our agency partners in receiving the products they need. After their volunteer shift, both were invited to tour our warehouse and hear directly from our staff on how the pandemic has impacted our work and how we are planning for the future.

While, Secretary Miller and Secretary Redding were moving boxes, our PCK team welcomed Secretary Wetzel from the Department of Corrections to our new building. The team provided him with the tour of the facility and had a discussion about how PCK could better work with returning citizens.

The partnerships Philabundance creates with the government can help us serve more people in a better way. We are so thankful to the Wolf Administration for their dedications to addressing hunger and look forward to continuing our strong partnerships.
