ACME Markets to Help Philabundance to Spread The Love to Kids In Need

Philadelphia, PA. – February 5, 2020 – In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, our sponsor ACME Markets will donate 5,000 jars of Signature Select Peanut Butter and offer a $10,000 match to Philabundance for its Spread the Love campaign, benefiting kids and families facing hunger. The campaign goal is to raise 50,000 jars of this nutritious pantry staple which is often too expensive for families to buy.

“Hunger impacts people of all ages and stages in every zip code in the Delaware Valley,” said Dana Ward, Communications & Public Affairs Manager, ACME Markets. “We are honored to help Philabundance Spread the Love to kids facing hunger by donating this needed, protein-rich item.”

For the sixth year in a row, Bethany Christian School will collect donations and travel over an hour to Philabundance where they will pack and sort the food they collect. In total, the Bethany School has donated almost 6,000 pounds of food to help other children facing hunger. ACME and Bethany School will make their donations during a press event on Tuesday, February 25 at 10 AM at Philabundance’s Hunger Relief Center in South Philadelphia.

Additionally, Philadelphia’s own Meredith Laurence – the Blue Jean Chef – will generously match the public’s donations up to $15,000 for this important initiative.

“Of the 90,000 people each week whom Philabundance and our partners serve, one third of them are children,” said Glenn Bergman, Executive Director, Philabundance. “That‘s why we’re grateful to ACME, Bethany Christian School and the Blue Jean Chef for their dedication to helping children who might otherwise go hungry.”
