Giving Tuesday 2022

This Giving Tuesday we once again joined 6ABC for the Annual Holiday Food Drive! The Holiday Food Drive raises funds to help Philabundance in our mission to relieve hunger today and end hunger for good.

From 4 pm-6:30 pm, 6ABC broadcasted a series of news segments while volunteers waited by the phones for viewers to call in and donate. Donations were also accepted by text, a QR code, and online. In total, the telethon raised nearly $30,000 and Disney, parent company for 6abc, donated an additional $25,000.

While monetary donations are accepted, the gift of time is also appreciated. Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine joined us for Giving Tuesday as well. Chef Irvine has been featured on the Food Network and is known for traveling around the world making food for people in need. He visited Philabundance Community Kitchen and gave our culinary students a demonstration and helped pack food for veterans and communities in need with volunteers from Wheels Up, a private aviation company.

Every act of generosity counts and we’re so grateful to our volunteers, agency partners, and staff for joining us in our fight to beet hunger. We understand that inflation has made trips to the grocery store more daunting and that many of us are spending more money on less food. With all our support and donations, we can purchase healthy and fresh produce, protein, and dairy products. Thank you to our partners Dunkin, 6abc, and The Robert Irvine Foundation for their support in helping us drive hunger in our communities every holiday season!
