MLK Day of Service at Philabundance

On Monday, January 19, Philabundance hosted its annual day of service to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

One hundred volunteers from corporate groups, social organizations, and individuals came together to pack Backpack snacks, packages of shelf-stable snacks for children to have access to nourishment outside of regular school hours.

“Dr. King’s courageous and unwavering commitment to social justice and equality included a call to eliminate hunger and poverty,” Loree D. Jones Brown, CEO of Philabundance, said. “His dream included a world without hunger, a nation in which no American parent has to skip a meal so that their children may eat.”

Thanks to this year’s dedicated and tireless volunteers who participated in this year’s MLK Day of Service, 5,000 meal kits will be distributed to Philabundance partners across our region.
