The Largest Volunteer Shift in Philabundance History

At Philabundance, the dedication of our volunteers is the backbone of our mission: driving hunger from our communities today and ending hunger for good. Every day, selfless individuals donate their time during daily shifts, group efforts, and special events, helping us make monumental strides in the fight against hunger.

On December 20, 2024, Philabundance hosted its largest volunteer shift ever in partnership with Jefferson Health, Jefferson Health Plans, and Thomas Jefferson University. Nearly 100 volunteers came together for this groundbreaking event, assembling 7,000 emergency packs filled with healthy, ready-to-eat items requiring no heating or equipment to prepare.

This initiative was part of Jefferson’s 200th-anniversary celebration in 2024, which includes a remarkable service goal of 200,000 volunteer hours by employees. The event contributed approximately 2,000 hours toward that goal and brought together an inspiring group of individuals, including Philabundance Board President Dixie James and Keith Leaphart.

Through events like this, Philabundance and its partners continue to show the power of collaboration and the incredible impact of community action.
