What Hope Means to Philabundance

At Philabundance, and for families across the country, the holiday season is in full swing. And for those of us fortunate enough, the holidays are full of warm feelings—the return of gatherings and celebrations and the opportunity to come together with loved ones.

But, we know all too well that this isn’t the case for many of our neighbors in Philadelphia and the surrounding region. For those facing food insecurity, the holidays can feel hope-less, a reminder of the day-to-day struggle to remain afloat in the face of such indulgence and excess. For us, it is a reminder of our guiding mission to drive hunger from our communities today and end hunger for good, as we work to instill hope in the communities and homes throughout our region.

So, what does hope mean for Philabundance? Hope is our mission, our mantra, and our vision, 365 days a year. Our hope for a world without hunger inspires our work and keeps us moving forward, even in the most turbulent times. And to those who find this time of year stressful and difficult, instead of merry and joyous, we remain especially committed to providing hope this holiday season.

Hunger exists in every community, but every act—no matter how small—can make a difference to end it. Here’s how you can join us in giving hope this holiday season:

Advocate: Tell your legislators to extend the strengthened Child Tax Credit and ensure food banks can meet the increased demand by providing them additional food and capacity funds.

Donate: Your donations help Philabundance purchase high-quality food, support our agency network, and provide people with access to nutritious food.  Every dollar matters as we work to relieve hunger today and end hunger for good.

Volunteer: Philabundance runs on volunteers. Pledge to volunteer at our Hunger Relief Center or Philabundance Community Kitchen – or at one of our 350 member agencies.
